FRIDAY FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE Read the paragraph below and find examples of metaphor, simile,
onomatopoeia, personification, oxymoron and/or alliteration.
Sadie sat down at the computer, opened a browser, and typed in
the web address. Shopping online had recently become a sport
for her. She loved eBay and took great pleasure in outbidding an
opponent for a desired item. She had her eye on a blood red
blanket that would be beautiful in her basement living room. As
the auction clock ticked down, her finger waited, like a poisonous
snake, ready to strike. Just as she submitted the bid, her
computer threw a fit and shut the browser completely
down. “Good grief!” she exclaimed.
