Read the passage provided and identify the central idea in this persuasive passage. Keeping pets at home has several benefits. Pets are a great way to improve your mood and temperament. Research has shown that people who
suffer from various diseases have lower chances of depression if they keep pets, as compared to those who are suffering from similar diseases
and don't keep pets. Pets are a great source of exercise and a wonderful antidote for loneliness.
Keeping pets at home is a violation of animal rights. We consider cats, dogs, and other exotic species as our property and keep them captive.
It is questionable at times that should we keep animals in an unnatural environment that they have no understanding of? Does placing animals
in a habitat other than their own make survival difficult for them? Should such practices be followed and allowed just for human pleasure?
It is a misconception to assume that we humans are "outside of the natural world—we coexist with life around us. In the vast majority of cases,
the welfare of the animals kept as pets is vastly improved. They are kept safe, healthy, and in a social environment, despite the difference in
species. Millions of animal lovers around the world who keep pets with care help to set a humane example of human-animal bonding.
