I need to write a short story based on "speculative fiction." Any ideas that's basic and simple to write about? a

write about  a war between supernatural creatures (vampires werewolves) creatures of the night and mythical creatures (fairies angels elves) creatures of sunlight and make something like how they started of as the 12 elders of the zodiac each mythological creature assigned a zodiac. and how their alliance broke apart forming the 6 of darkness and six of light and make some tragic backstory like the creatures of light betrayed and broke one of the rules by helping the humans and giving them power leading to the corruption of humankind, and as higher being they are not allowed to mess with the natural order of things and go against god

and then the main character dies in the war after major tension build up and it turns out he was in a video game the whole time ( but thats what he thinks)  and later it will turn out that it was actaully real but it only transferred his spiritual body to the war site
