Why do you support the use of an an artists music in advertising

There are several reasons to support the use of an artist's music in advertising. Some of these reasons benefit the artist, and some benefit the advertiser. It is a mutually beneficial relationship.

First, using an artist's music in advertising will allow that artist to gain a wider audience. People who may not have otherwise heard the artist's music will now be exposed to it. In this case, the artist is benefitting from his or her music being used.

Secondly, an artist whose music is used in advertising has just generated another stream of income. Not all musicians make millions of dollars; most make far less than that. In this case as well, the artist is benefitting from his or her music being used in advertising.

Next, music is known to evoke emotion in the listener. A happy song can provoke happy feelings in the listener; similarly, a sad song can provoke sad songs in the listener. An advertiser benefits from using music in advertising because the viewer will soon associate a given song (along with the emotions it evokes) with the given product. 

Finally, connecting a product to a song helps the listener remember the product even when the advertisement isn't on. Say a particular song is used in a commercial for shoes. A viewer sees that commercial several times. Later, when that song is heard on the radio, the listener cannot help but think of the shoes as well.

Therefore, using an artist's music in advertising has several benefits for both the artist and the advertiser.
