How might a poor body image result in an eating disorder?

It could lower the persons self esteem, they could be less motivated and become depressed.

That person would view themselves as unattractive or might have a mental illness that goes along with it, so they would begin doing something that they think would help, and if doing something else would make them more unattractive, they wouldn't do it or would avoid it.
