Scenario 1. Richard works as a Disability Support Worker in a residential care facility. One of
Richard's clients is Mina. Mina has developmental disability and has limited verbal
communication. Occasionally, Mina becomes aggressive and tries to hit Richard.
When this happens, Richard locks Mina in a room until she calms down. Following
episodes of aggression, Richard takes away some of Mina's possessions to let her
know that she is in trouble and that her behaviour was bad. Richard doesn't really
know why Mina betomes aggressive at times. He doesn't really think about it until it
occurs. Mina's aggressive behaviour has made it difficult for her to make friends at
the facility and so she spends a lot of time by herself.
