Briefly summarize how christianity split into catholicism and protestantism.

    Martin Luther, John Calvin and other Protestant reformers opposed the Roman Catholic Church beliefs. Which then lead to the  protestants to separate themselves from the Roman Catholic Church by creating their own branch under Christianity called Protestantism.
