You will need to produce a paper on a different culture that explores the areas of the culture that are the focus of anthropology. choose a culture that is well outside of your own so that you can compare it with your own. remember, anthropologists tend to focus on cultures that do not live in industrial and post-industrial societies, so indigenous people are a good choice.

the first step is choosing a topic and finding sources. you will need scholarly sources, meaning those for established newspapers, magazines or websites. part of doing research on the web is being mindful that you have legitimate sources. websites like nationalgeographic. com will be especially for this kind of research. your local library will likely also have some good books on other cultures, and many libraries have excellent online collections. any website that ends in .gov or .edu will be a good source of information as well.

you need to have at least five scholarly sources on your topic. several should be published articles or books since websites do not usually have much in-depth information.

when you are gathering sources, keep in mind that your final research paper should be four to five pages in length, double-spaced and discuss the following, as well as the similarities and differences between yours and another culture in each category:

family structure
religion
material culture
language
world view
economy
art
gender roles
values
environment
