This is for history First, reread the answers you wrote on the Sum It Up worksheet after you interviewed an adult about his or her experience with American education. Then explain how your views about education compare to that person's. Is your experience with American education similar? In what ways is it alike, and in what ways is it different?
Next, look back at all of the journal entries that you wrote for this module. (They should all be located in one file.) Overall, what do your journal entries say about your experience with American education? Use them as evidence, and write at least one analytical statement that would be supported by your thoughts and ideas.
Finally, look back at the analytical statements that were made in this lesson about the thoughts of early Americans on the purpose and value of education. Is the purpose of education the same in America today as it was then? Does schooling have the value that it did during the first two centuries of the nation's history?
One more thing: Write at least one analytical statement that identifies what you think the purpose of education should be now, at the start of the 21st century. Use the other analytical statements in this lesson as examples for how yours should be written.
