What do you need by "wartime" events? Here are famous battles of the Civil War: 

1. Antietam - This was the first major Union victory. 
2. Gettsyburg - This is considered the "turning point" of the war. A Union victory. 
3. Battle of Fort Sumter - This was the first unofficial battle of the Civil War. The Confederates captured the Union fort, Fort Sumter. A Confederate victory. 

Other important events: 

• Surrender at Appomattox: Robert E. Lee, the Confederate general, surrendered to the Union at the Appomattox Courthouse in April 1865. 
• Lincoln's Assassination: President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in April 1865, just one week after the surrender at Appomattox. 
• The Emancipation Proclamation: On January 1st, 1863, Abraham Lincoln declared all slaves in the Confederacy free. By December 1865, the Thirteenth Amendment ensured slavery was illegal everywhere in the U.S.
