Why did delegates gather in 1787 for the constitutional convention

In 1787, The Delegates gathered in "Philadelphia" to overthrow the new American government by the non-violent method as defined in the article of confederation.

This gathering is also known as the constitutional convention, "George Washington" headed this convention at this meeting it was decided that the young country is dealing with new problems which were kept aside as the "article of confederation" and should write the "new constitution".

Each state has its different view some states wants a "strong center" while some states are against it.
