The differences between a physical change and a chemical change are as follows :

Physical change is a temporary and usually reversible change in which no new substances are formed whereas Chemical change is a permanent and it is usually an irreversible change in which new substances with different properties are formed. In physical change, the chemical composition of the substance remains the same but only the physical properties like state , colour , speed , motion , shape , size etc are changed whereas In chemical change , the physical properties , the chemical properties and the chemical composition of the substances are changed.Physical change is a reversible change as it occurs in forward as well as backward directions whereas chemical change is an irreversible change as it cannot be reversed back from products to reactants.Some of the examples of physical change are glowing of an electric bulb , magnetising an iron nail , preparing a solution , changing of ice into water and water vapour etc. Some of the examples of chemical change are changing milk into curd , rusting of iron , burning magnesium ribbon , decaying grasses , cooking rice etc.
