How do you check your answer when solving a two step equation?

this is the equation i'm working on.

-2q-5 = -11

+5 +5

-2q = -6

÷(-2) ÷(-2)

q = 3

check: -2 (3)-3 = 11

as you can see, i started to check my answer, but they're confused on what to do next.
