The question is somewhat ironic, dontcha think ?.  We're talking about a young woman using a parachute in a situation where there is no air resistance.  Her immediate future safety is not encouraging.

The young woman's falling speed is zero when she jumps out of the parachute (?).  After 3.14 seconds, it is (3.14 x 9.8 m/s) = 30.77 m/s faster than zero.
