1. Construct a closed circuit with a battery, resistor and an ammeter. Connect voltmeter across the resistor.
2. Change the voltage of the battery and record current and potential difference.

3. Plot a graph of V Vs I. Find the slope. The slope gives you experimental value of resistance. Compare you experimental value of resistance to known (standard) value. Find percent difference of two values.
4. Repeat procedure 1-3 for two resistors connected in series. Slope gives you equivalent resistance of two resistors in series. This is your experimental value of resistance. Compare this experimental resistance to known resistance( equivalent resistance of two resistors) and fine percent difference.
5. Repeat procedure 1-3 for two resistors connected in parallel. Slope gives you equivalent resistance of two resistors in parallel. This is your experimental value of resistance. Compare this experimental resistance to known resistance( equivalent resistance of two resistors) and find percent difference.

The heater element of a 120 v toaster is a 5.4 m length of nichrome wire, whose diameter is 0.48 mm. the resistivity of nichrome at the operating temperature of the toaster is 1.3 × 10-6 ω·m. the toaster is operated at a voltage of 120 v. (a) what is the power drawn by the toaster? (b) if the cost of electricity is 12 ¢ per kilowatt-hour, and it takes 2 minutes to toast bread, how much does it cost for toasted bread? (c) when the heater element is at room temperature, is the resistivity in the nichrome wire greater than, less than, or equal to it’s resistivity when at operating temperature? explain.
