If there is a huge boulder on your lawn and you want to determine its density, but it is too large to move, how could you calculate its density?

Density = mass/volume

Calculating the volume by measuring the area it occupies and length.

Also, the heavier an object the higher density it has since density is directly proportional to mass.

This means the stone will sink when placed in water and it must have density higher than that of water since it's much heavier.

By approximation it must have more than 1000kg per m³. The mass can be obtained this way.

The best way to find density of irregular objects is to put them in water.
