One of the Vice President's duties is to preside over the Senate. Being the President of the Senate, the Vice President will perform two important tasks. One is to cast a vote when there is a Senate deadlock. This is a situation where there is a 50-50 division between Democrats and Republicans in a vote for Senate majority.
