Each early astronomer revised their models of the solar system because of another astronomer's discoveries and sometimes had their proposals rejected. This is similar to the work scientists do today. Suppose that after the results of an experiment, a scientist decides that a long-held scientific theory must be revised. The scientist modifies the theory and tells other scientists. There will be two types of reactions, the scientist that agree and support the new theory and the scientist that resist the change.

Explanation:

When a theory can not solve the problems that should be solved by it, a group of scientists proposes another one that can adjust better to reality. When this happens, there is always a division in the scientific community. On one side, there will be scientists that do not agree and defend the current theory, and on the other side,  the scientists that accept the new theory. Over time, the new theory will receive the acceptance of all the scientific community, and it will become the new central theory.
