How can it be summer in America and winter in Australia at the same time?

i believe the reasoning for that lad is because since the earth is a sphere if you  were to take a globe you would see that america is infront of you and you cant see austrlia so if you where the sun it wouldnt be touching austalia because they are across from each other.
