Evidence of writing systems is present in a number of early states, yet many of these systems appear to have developed independently, through different means, and for different uses around the world. Compare and contrast the development and early uses of two (2) of the following writing systems: Mayan hieroglyphs, cuneiform writing, Chinese characters, Egyptian hieroglyphs, the Indus script. It has been argued that the development or introduction of a writing system can have profound effects on all aspects of life in a society. Do you agree or disagree?
